If everything went his way, he would have never even left Midgard. Kratos just wanted to scatter the ashes and only ended up in the other realms he did because it was in the way of his journey.
The real reason is because there wasn't a narrative cause to go there but those locations and their realm towers still had to be referenced for proper worldbuilding. Of course, some of this is still a stretch because then why didn't Odin just seal off all the realm travel. It makes sense for Baldur to have a key in because Odin trusts him (and presumably Magni and Modi), but not anybody else roaming around the other realms. Of course Brok and Sindri just realm shift and show up on Midgard to help out Kratos anyway, but the intention from Odin seems to be there at least.Īsgard of course is sealed off because that's where Odin himself would be. Perhaps he didn't want anyone going to them to craft weapons and armor that could be used against him, like how he got them to create Mjolnir which was essentially a superweapon that wiped out the giants. The Aesir had already previously gone to war with the Vanir, and unlike the giants, the Vanir are still around, so he might have thought it best to cut off access to Vanaheim so nobody can ally with them.įor Svartalfheim, Mimir mentions at one point that even though it translates to the land of the Dark Elves, it's actually the home of the dwarves, because the Aesir couldn't really be bothered with the difference when naming stuff, and that its original name was Nidavellir. God of War fans will just have to wait and see what Santa Monica Studio brings with the upcoming God of War.Probably more of Odin's paranoia, thinking those specific realms would contain things that could be used against him. These things are in the realm of possibility, however, there are a lot of theories about what is next for Kratos and Atreus. Depending on when Kratos dies, this could mean an entire game of just navigating to get to Odin. This is possible and certainly something that the developers can do.Īside from gameplay, the story would have to be further fleshed out and could lead to the ending of God of War’s sequel being a confrontation with Odin. Kratos’ death would separate him from Atreus, leading to a change in the gameplay mechanics. With the emphasis on Atreus in the story and the mechanics of God of War, it's hard to imagine them being separated for long enough to affect gameplay. While this theory sounds like an exciting direction for the next God of War game, there are a lot of things that would make this difficult to do. Where the God of War story would go from here is hard to tell.
This would be an interesting plot to explore, having Thor kill Kratos, only to have Kratos wind up in front of Odin. If Kratos dies, that could allow him to cash in his favor from the Valkyries to bring Kratos to Odin. This theory is crafted with the knowledge of what was shown on the wall in Jotunheim that depicts the events of the God of War storyline, ending what has been speculated to be Kratos’ death. The Valkyries still owe Kratos a favor for freeing them, and i think he'll cash it in if the pictures on the wall in Jotunheim end up really happening. Nebulant01’s theory is that Kratos will die and since the Valkyries owe him for liberating them, they will take him to Asgard instead of Valhalla, allowing him to confront Odin.
Reddit user Nebulant01 posted their theory to Reddit as a meme that sparked a conversation.
